Popular local indie band I Dream In Colour are close to hitting the bit time after selling out at their recent London gigs.
The Bishop’s Stortford band have gathered a big following in the region in recent years and are now hoping for some national recognition.
Their debut single Strangest Place was given a good review in the London’s Metro newspaper and they have sold out three gigs in a row in the capital.
Hundreds of fans turned up at the city gigs and the band are now heading off on a UK tour.
The band said in their online blog: “Thank you so much to everyone that came to see us in London. You were beyond awesome.
“We are very excited to announce that ‘London’ is going to be our next single, released in May.”
Meanwhile, another popular local musician has found success after being praised on Twitter by TV’s Stephen Fry.
Singer and guitarist Jon Gomm, who regularly plays at the town’s Acoustic Club, has enjoyed overnight success after his video was praised online by the QI host.
The video of his song Passionflower got more than two million hits following the tweet, which simply said ‘wow’. The performer has since appeared on TV’s BBC Breakfast and been asked for many media interviews.
The Acoustic Club is held in the town’s Half Moon pub on Thursday evenings. Another former star of the club, Matt Cardle, went on to win ITV’s X Factor in 2010.
