Annual business charity race

Businesses are being encouraged to don their trainers and tracksuits for an annual charity race.

Every year law firm Birketts LLP organise the Birketts’ Race4Business; a 3.5 mile run around Chelmsford. It has been running for 14 years and has raised over £400,000 over the years for worthwhile causes.

Registration for the event is now open and the event’s founder and consultant at Birketts, Richard Wollaston, is urging other companies to take part to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.

He said: “This is such a worthwhile cause and one which is close to many people’s hearts.

“When we started the event in 1999, we had 140 runners. Since then we have sprinted ahead and last year more than 2,000 business people crossed the finish line.

“This year we want even more companies to take part, to make Birketts’ Race4Business 2012 the biggest event yet, in what will be the first year the race has been run in a city following Chelmsford’s recent status promotion.”

The Birketts’ Race4Business will take place on 5th July.

The course for the run goes through Chelmsford’s Admiral’s Park and West Park and the finish line is at Birketts’ offices at Brierly Place.
