A shop full of designer clothes and new fashion ranges in Cheltenham is giving the usual high street shops a run for their money. The Alycat store boasts a mix of fashion, must- have bags and designer shoes and was opened two years ago by Aly, who sources one-off designer samples, new clothing ranges and vintage pieces.

130 years old and cooker still works!
Paul Bence, the managing director of George Bence & Sons, was so intrigued when he heard about an ancient cooker in an old farmhouse that he decided to go and check it out. He made the trip out to Bishop’s Cleeve to Home Farm to look at the Georgian range cooker that his company had made in the 1880s.

Couple from Charlton Kings celebrate 50 years together
David and Alice Ross are still very much in love after 50 years of marriage and the couple, who live in Charlton Kings, are celebrating their golden wedding anniversary. Alice said that she felt the “wow” factor the day that she saw David and she feels the same way today.

Gemma was incredibly upset when rescue dog Dilly went missing from Shaw Green Lane in Prestbury. She feared that her beloved Jack Russell and Yorkshire Terrier cross had died in the cold temperatures.

£3,600 at auction for Beatles autographs
Shirts worn by sporting heroes and signed celebrity memorabilia were among some of the items going under the hammer at a bumper auction at the Cheltenham Chase Hotel. Excited bidders packed the hotel in the hopes of claiming one of the 500 lots.

Gloucester Docks Tall Ships Festival
The leader of Gloucester City Council, Councillor Paul James, has said that he is hoping that the Tall Ships Festival in Gloucester this August will be the best ever. The first Tall Ships Festival was held in 2007 following the floods. It gave the area’s economy a great boost. The next festival was held in 2009, and was attended by TV star Gok Wan. Around 60-75,000 visited the festival, adding £2 million to the local economy.

Gloucestershire’s ‘oldest railway’ celebrates 200th anniversary
The 200th anniversary of one of Gloucestershire’s first railways will be celebrated this year. The Gloucestershire tram road for horse drawn wagons that linked the Gloucester docks with Cheltenham was first opened in 1811. The route was used to ease the transportation of stone, coal and other goods from the River Severn. The nine mile (15km) route was important for 50 years until the arrival of steam railway.
