Croydon has been the home to many famous faces over the years; from supermodel Kate Moss to comedian and Britain’s Got Talent judge Michael McIntyre. We have also seen a wide range of talent hone their skills in the Brit School that is based in Croydon, including Kate Nash, Katy B, the sensational Adele and of course Amy Winehouse.
Another star appearance in Croydon came when Hollywood actor Dougray Scott, star of films such as Mission Impossible 2 and Enigma, gave schoolchildren a shock when he came to visit them. The starstruck children were given the opportunity to experience movie magic when the famous actor spent the morning persuading them to enter the film industry.
The 45 year old actor visited John Fisher School in Purley on behalf of the film education charity Filmclub.
Dougray said: “It’s inspirational and you see people from different parts of the world, to not to be dissimilar to you as you perhaps thought. It can help break down prejudices and social barriers as well, and it’s an incredibly exciting event to go to the cinema and watch these wonderful stories unfold before your eyes.”
The actor has had considerable success and has starred alongside Tom Cruise, Drew Barrymore and Kate Winslet. His appearance at the school was part of the Filmclub’s Close Encounters programme, which gives young people the chance to connect with people who work in the film industry and community.
