Scenes from new Batman filmed in Croydon

There will be a Hollywood style destruction of one of Croydon’s landmark buildings for the next Batman film. The multi million dollar film starring Christian Bale and Tom Hardy will be the third in the new Batman franchise. The new plot has been shrouded in secrecy since Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises started filming in India.

The Delta Point building near West Croydon station is being used for a computerized demolition for the new blockbuster.  Although everything is being kept top secret, the rumours began spreading on Twitter after many people mistook the filming of Kate Moss’ new Rimmel ad on the roof of the Whitgift Shopping Centre car park as the beginning of the Batman shoot.

There has been no sign of any of the film’s stars, including Christian Bale, Gary Oldham or Anne Hathaway, but one of the most luxurious Winnebagos in the UK was seen driving through the streets of Croydon.

The Dark Knight Rises crew have also been travelling to the Farmiloe Building on St John Street in Central London, which was used as the exterior for the Gotham City Police station in both Batman Begins and The Dark Knight.

However there was no comment from the studio about the Croydon shoots and what they are being used for in the film.

A spokeswoman for the new film refused to comment.

The Dark Knight Rises is scheduled to be released next year and will feature several new characters including Anne Hathaway as Catwoman and Tom Hardy as drug-fuelled muscle man Bane.

The Dark Knight, which was released in 2008, took over $1 billion in revenue worldwide, and was the seventh highest grossing film of all time.
