A dentist from Derby has been celebrating after he has been short-listed for a prestigious industry award.
Ravi Nathwani, who is a dentist at Littleover Dental Practice, has been recognised as one of the leading young dentists in the North East and will be up for Best Young Dentist at the Dentistry Awards 2012.
Ravi believes that he has been nominated because of his ability to relax nervous patients and children. He treats nervous patients regularly and takes the time to ease their anxiety so that they feel more comfortable at the dentists. He helps with their nerves by explaining every step of the process so that they understand what is going on.
The dentist said that dental phobia can have many different causes that can range from bad experiences in the past to a fear of needles. Ravi tries to rationalise the situation so that his patients know that everything is going to be alright.
Ravi is very popular at his dental practice and has many fans amongst the surgery’s younger patients because of his friend, Daisy the cow.
Pam Jones, Ravi’s colleague, said that the practice is very proud of his hard work and they hope that he will be recognised for all of his achievements.
