Camel Settles Into New Home

Monty the camel is settling into his new home at the Yorkshire Wildlife Park after spending all his life in a travelling circus. The seven-year-old camel was born in captivity and had never met another camel until he was given to the park by the Bobby Roberts Super Circus. Talented Painter Wins Award

A Doncaster College student has won a national award for his painting and decorating skills. Chris Shaw, 23, a painting and decorating apprentice from Doncaster College, has been announced Dulux Decorator Centres’ National Apprentice of the Year 2011, after competing against finalists from all over the UK. Judges said they were impressed with the student’s attention to detail and creative flair during the grand finale.

Teenager Hits The Top Spot

Teenager Sam McGonigal has been named the UK’s number one in his hobby of clay target shooting. Sam, 18, from Hatfield Woodhouse, has been rated the best in the country in the under 21s category by the Clay Pigeon Shooting Association (CPSA). Tiger Makes A Splash

A new tiger at Yorkshire Wildlife Park has been putting on a show for visitors and getting her picture in the national media. The Amur Tiger, named Sayan, likes to play in the waterfall at the park’s Land of the Tiger enclosure. She has even been seen jumping from the top of the four-metre-high waterfall into the lagoon below, much to the delight of onlookers.
