Choirs unite to open town’s music festival

The Budleigh Music and Arts festival is now in its seventh year and offers two fun filled weeks of the very best in opera, music and other events.

Budleigh Salterton Male Voice Choir are thrilled to be involved and are opening the show along with special guests the Renaissance, a ladies’ barbershop chorus.

The choir’s programme will include: The Song of the Jolly Roger, I Dreamed a Dream and With a Voice of Singing. The 60 man strong choir has recently returned from Truro where they performed at the Cornwall International Male Voice Choral Festival.

Renaissance are the area’s only ladies’ barbershop chorus and have given regular performances at the Exmouth Festival, the Devon Performing Arts Festival in Exeter, where they won the Barbershop Class in 2009 and the Small Chorus Class in 2011.

There will be many other performances at the festival such as the Dufay Collective who will be performing Italian medieval music titled La Dolce Vista.

The festival includes free lunchtime concerts as well as morning and afternoon concerts, exhibitions, talks and walks.
