Teacher becomes triathlon star
A teacher who took part in a triathlon in memory of his granddad is now taking part in national competitions after discovering he had a talent for the sport. Matthew Turnbull, 33, of Seaton Carew, has gone from training for his first charity event to competing against the country’s best amateurs in the space of just six months.

Steel workers battled torrential rain and high winds to complete an endurance event for charity. The staff from TATA Steel, in Hartlepool, took part in the Osmotherly Phoenix endurance event in North Yorkshire to raise cash for Hartlepool and District Hospice.
