Stars from the small screen are hoping to raise some cash with a seven-a-side match in aid of St George’s Crypt.
Actors from Emmerdale, Hollyoaks and Coronation Street are playing Garforth Town Football Club on the 3rd June to support the Leeds city centre homeless shelter.
The event will see 20 teams of local lawyers, architects, prison officers and restaurant staff battle it out on the football pitch with the celebs.
Cheryl Harrington, from St George’s Crypt, said: “It should be a great family day out. Come along to support your favourite teams and meet a few celebrities too.”
The football tournament has been arranged by the St George’s Crypt charity and actor James Hooton, who plays Sam Dingle in Emmerdale.
James said: “It’s great to be involved in the organisation of this event.
“St George’s Crypt does a lot of great work for the homeless in and around Leeds and the open day at Garforth is a great opportunity to raise some very much needed funds for the charity.”
General manager at Garforth Town Football Club, Brian Close, is donating the use of the ground and facilities for free.
He said: “We are proud to host the charity tournament at The Genix Healthcare Stadium for St George’s Crypt.
“This is a way that we can share this fantastic venue with the community. We hope the event goes well and that everyone enjoys the day.”
On the day there will also be a bouncy castle, tombola, face painting, cake stall, bar, food and auction.
There will be musical performances as well from Leeds bands Soul Circus, Abstract and The Gonzo’s and a special performance from Edna’s Hat a band featuring Emmerdale stars Tom Lister, who plays Carl King, and Sian Reece Williams, who plays Gennie Walker.
Tickets are available by calling the Crypt on 0113 245 9061 and cost £2.50 for under 16s, £5 for adults and £12 for a family ticket.
