Park Run Gets More Popular

A weekly park run is gathering pace as more and more runners turn up to join the free activity. The Braunstone Parkrun takes place in the Leicester park every Saturday morning at 9am. It is a timed 5km run that is free to take part in; participants just need to register online by 6pm on the Friday.

Shoes Come Off For Charity Walk

A charity walk raised awareness as well as money when the fundraiser decided to do it with no shoes on. Tom Reece, 27, wanted to raise money for poor families in the Philippines with a 17-mile walk. He decided to do the event in bare feet to draw attention to the poverty he has seen in the country.

Mr Stink Premiere

Young audience members were delighted and disgusted as they enjoyed the world premiere of scratch ‘n’ sniff show Mr Stink. The show, based on a children’s novel written by comedy actor David Walliams, was shown for the first time at Leicester’s Curve theatre.

Abbey Gets Its Second Reopening

Historic building Launde Abbey has been officially reopened for the second time after a £2.6 million facelift. The Bishop of Leicester was among more than 1,000 people who took part in celebrations to mark the opening of the 16th century church retreat.
