Music madness raises cash for hospice

The boys from One Direction, Professor Green, Queens of the Stone Age, Atomic Kitten, Tinie Tempah and Lulu were among the mix of characters to be seen at a school charity event. Members of staff and students at Vandyke Upper School dressed up as a host of musical characters to raise money for the Keech Hospice.

LamCam is back

Animal lovers have been able to watch lambs being born for the second year in a row thanks to a special LamCam. The camera, at Mead Open Farm, went live in February for the second year, allowing members of the public to watch lambs being born and fed for 24 hours a day.

New children’s trail

Residents are being asked for their input into the creation of a new Children’s Trail in the town. The Leighton Linslade Children’s Trail is being designed to celebrate the town’s links with Mary Norton – author of the series of children’s books The Borrowers and Bedknob and Broomstick.

National award for police officers

Two dedicated police offers have been given a national award for their efforts trying to save a man’s life. The two officers, from Leighton Buzzard, helped paramedics restart a man’s heart, despite his family insisting he was dead. PCs Daniel Bales, 47, and Michael Zdan, 25, who serve with Herts Police, have now been given Resuscitation Certificates by the Royal Humane Society for their efforts.
