‘Bossy’ student enjoys Soaraway success

A pupil from Cardinal Newman has raised a great deal of cash for the Teenage Cancer Trust by arranging a talent show, despite not being able to sing or dance herself.

17 year old Sarah Atayero raised £1,300 but says that her success is down to being good at ‘bossing people around’. The Leagrave local organised ‘Teens with Talent’ at her school where she is studying for her A-levels in psychology, biology, German and geography.

The money that she is raised is going to be doubled by Barclays Bank after an employee of the bank was left impressed by the show.

Sarah said: “I designed posters, presented assembles and sold wristbands to get people involved.

“The support and appreciation was fantastic and people were so generous with donations.”

The event interlaced facts and figures about the charity and the work that they do with impressive performances from the school’s singers, dancers, bands and instrumentalists.

Sarah is a volunteer for The Teenage Cancer Trust but admitted that her future charity activities will be limited to sponsored races and fun runs due to heavy school workload.

“I need to start studying to pass my exams,” she admitted.
