A woman from Newarthill is joining Lawrence Dallaglio and Freddie Flintoff on an epic cycle ride for charity after reading about it on her company’s intranet. Kirsty Gardiner, 24, who works at Strathclyde Business Park, is in training to take part in the first stage of the Dallaglio Flintoff Cycle Slam 2012.

Dad’s old car inspiration for winning poem

A poem about his dad’s old car has landed youngster Sean O’Neill with the title of poetry champion. The primary six pupil, from Motherwell, was named champion in the Reigart Poetry Partnership contest, in which more than 1,000 youngsters from across the region took part.

All the help luccky pups need

A litter of 10 puppies that were struggling to survive have been given all the help they need. The puppies, who were found cold and starving after their birth on Christmas Day, are being looked after by a string of volunteers in Wishaw.

Labour leader Ed Miliband was questioned by staff at a new Co-op distribution centre when he dropped in for a visit. Mr Miliband also showed off his skills on the pool table during his visit to the centre at Newhouse at the beginning of February.
