Lucky find for Keith as he finds lost shoe

A Newmarket local may have come across the oldest horseshoe in the home of horse racing. 68 year old Keith Swift saw the iron horseshoe in a stream between Newmarket and Exning. He then found out that the horseshoe could date as far back as between the years 1350 and 1500.

The Voice’s Luan records new charity record

Luan Hockley, a singer from Dullingham who auditioned for The Voice on the BBC has come together with other auditionees to record a charity single. 30 year old Luanne auditioned in front of thousands of people and The Voice coaches Jessie J, Sir Tom Jones, Will.I.Am and Danny O’Donoghue on the BBC singing programme.

Young entrepreneurs in Newmarket have been given a £1,000 boost following a Dragon’s Den style competition hosted by the Newmarket July Festival. Fifteeen students from Newmarket College made presentations to Cllr Robin Millar and Mark Edmondson, festival committee chairman.

Fair meeting for diamond anniversary couple

A Worthington couple are celebrating after 60 years of marriage. Bernard and Hermione How met 62 years ago at a fair in the village of Isleham, where Mrs How is from. After courting for two years, the couple were married at St Andrew’s Church in Isleham when Mr How was 27 and Mrs How was 22.

Falklands a safer place thanks to Robin

A retired lieutenant colonel has started his year off by travelling to the Falkland Islands. Robin Swanson, who is head of the Falkland Island De-mining Programme Office, headed to the Falklands to oversee a land mine clearance project. During the project, he will fence off areas of land that are dangerous because of land mines and release safe land that can be used recreationally.
