The world famous Islington-born singer Leona Lewis is the headline act for a major event planned in London next summer.
Ms Lewis has been named the headlining act at the BBC’s One Big Weekend event that is being held in London. This mini-festival, which is being called a curtain raiser for the Olympics, will be staged in Hackney Marshes on June 23rd-24th next year: this is only seven days prior to the 2012 Olympic Games in the capital.
The famous singer Ms Lewis, a former pupil of Ambler Primary School which is in Blackstock Road in Finsbury Park, commented: “To be part of this event is so important to me. Radio 1 are going to put on the biggest show in their history and it’s happening in east London.”
There will be over 100,000 tickets released for this big event, with a total of 80 acts performing across six stages.
So far the rapper turned soul singer known as Plan B is the only other artist apart from Ms Lewis who is confirmed to appear.
