New rugby kit goes back to roots

Rugby players have gone back to their roots with their latest kit thanks to a new sponsorship deal.

The new Paisley Rugby Club strip has gone back to a traditional ‘quarters’ design this season for the first time in 10 years.

The club, based at Anchor Mill, has been presented with the kit by new sponsor The Piazza Shopping Centre.

Club captain Ryan McCready said: “It’s a brilliant deal for the club and we love the fact that we’re sponsored by a brand with such a strong Paisley identity.

“As the only rugby club in Paisley, we were determined to link up with a sponsor that was known to everyone in the town, and we couldn’t have asked for a better name than the Piazza.

“The deal has provided us with a fantastic new kit which brings back memories of the early quarters kits worn by the club when it first started all those years ago.

“The players all voted on what design they wanted and the quarters style was pretty much the unanimous choice. It looks amazing and whenever we take to the pitch we will be instantly recognised as Paisley thanks to that eye-catching design.”

Maureen Hill, Piazza Shopping Centre manager, said: “The Piazza are delighted to be Paisley Rugby Club’s first XV main sponsor for 2011/2012, and we look forward to seeing the team build on their successes to enjoy another fantastic season.

“We’re proud to be at the heart of the Renfrewshire community and are delighted to do all we can to work with and support local organisations and teams like Paisley Rugby Club.”
