New hair salon plans

Jobs could be created if plans for a new ‘high-class’ hairdressers in Plymouth are approved.

The owner of the already established Envy Hair Design in Plymstock, Tracie Gunningham, is hoping to expand her business and create a new branch at the New Cooperage building at Royal William Yard in the developing yard.

If the plan is approved by Plymouth City Council Tracie hopes to be able to employ two or three stylists as well as three juniors.

Tracie said: “The plan is to open a high-class salon in luxury surroundings.

“We would hope to encourage customers to come and get their hair done and then go and have a drink and some food at one of the new restaurants in the yard.

“It’s really exciting and all our customers are so supportive,” she said.

She added: “Training and development is something we take really seriously and I’ve always taken on young trainees and trained them up – I always hope to keep them on too.”
