Plymouth hotels are not going to be sold off

Travelodge’s three hotels in Plymouth will not be sold off in new plans revealed by the debt-plagued firm so are trying to avoid going into administration. The hotels at Derry’s Cross, Derriford and Roborough were not chosen amongst the 49 that the company needed to dispose of and the Plymouth hotels will stay open.

Festival funding secured for two more years

The organisers of the much loved Plymstock Community Festival have managed to secure enough funding so that the festival can take place for at least another two years. The popular festival will take place on 1st September at Down Horn Park and will be bigger and better than ever after it managed to secure two charity grants.

Charity team soaked but successful after coast walk

Harry Elias, Christopher Perrin, Justin Morton and Phil Pettit have completed an epic charity walk after Harry found out that his former girlfriend was diagnosed with cancer. The friends walked over 220 miles from Poole to Plymouth in 11 days through torrential rain. They started raising money in 2008 when Harry’s ex-girlfriend and her father were diagnosed with cancer.

Awareness raised for the perils that cyclists face

A special course has been laid on my cyclists to enlighten motorists about the daily risks and dangers that they face on the roads. The Plymouth Cycling Campaign (PCyC) contacted driving schools in Plymouth via the Association of Professional Driving Instructors (APDI) to offer them short cycling courses. They hoped that the course would provide an insight that the driving instructors could pass onto their pupils.

The head housekeeper of one of the most popular hotels in Plymouth is celebrating a significant milestone. Anita Gaffney, 43, has now been working in the housekeeping department at the Legacy Plymouth International hotel for an amazing 25 years.

Fastest gun in town at Bishop Fleming

Bishop Fleming accountants in Plymouth, Bristol, Bath, Exeter, Torquay, Truro, and Worcester have been named as the fastest growing firm in the league table of the UK’s Top 50 accountants. Figures from “Accountancy Age”, known as the accountants’ bible, showed that Bishop Fleming experienced growth of 28%, the highest growth amongst the country’s top 50 firms.

Learner-drivers in Devon and Cornwall to be taught the Honest Truth

Over 300 driving instructors and driving schools in Plymouth, Devon and the Cornwall area are going to receive new teaching resources from a pioneering road safety campaign. South Devon based the Honest Truth Partnership aims to bring together the Fire Service, Police, County and District Councils, local Community Safety Partnership and driving instructors.
