A group of 25 young people have jumped in the deep end in a bid to raise money for Breast Cancer Care. The grueling 11 hour swimathon was organised as part of the Truth About Youth North East’s project, Goodie in a Hoodie.

A film made by young carers in the North East has been nominated at the First Light Film Awards in the Young Voice category. The young carers from Redcar and Cleveland and Middlesbrough were funded by a Redcar charity to make their film ‘A Mile In Our Shoes’. They were also given support from The Junction and Middlesbrough FC Study Skills Centre.

Black belt Jamie O’Donnell may still be a teenager, but he can certainly pack a wallop. The 13 year old Sunderland local has already won an amazing 37 awards at both regional and national Karate competitions. Jamie was just six years old when he won his first award and works hard to fit four training sessions a week in alongside his school and study timetable.
