Unlucky Derek continues his search for home near Taunton, Somerset

After spending more than half his life in care, and failing three times at finding a permanent home, Derek, a Staffordshire bull terrier cross collie is seeking a loving family to spend the rest of his years with. Derek has endured life in the West Hatch RSPCA branch in Taunton as well as the army, after his homeless carer gave him up to the RSPCA in March 2010.

Local Taunton MP visits Taunton Academy Science Day

Taunton Academy Community Science Day attracted a range of visitors, but Taunton Deane MP Jeremy Browne was certainly a poignant figurehead among the crowd. Mr Browne visited the academy to gain an insight into the progress the academy is making. He stated – “The Taunton Academy has made good initial progress and the real leap forward will be in the next academic year when millions of pounds become available for the upgrade of the former Ladymead site.”

Taunton’s pride as ex-marine wins book award

Taunton’s pride as ex-marine wins book award for personal recollection after enduring life inhibiting disabilities in Afghanistan. Ex-marine Mark Ormrod of Taunton has received an award from the Royal Marines Historical Society for his outstanding recollection of his first-hand experience when serving in Afghanistan, bringing the work our soldiers do in the Middle East to life.
