Organisers are hoping thousands of women will take part in a charity night walk this year after the route was changed to create more spaces.
The Rowcroft Hospice Sleep Walk, for women only, is back for its second year and is expected to be even bigger than the first event.
The fundraiser, also known as South Devon’s Biggest Women Only Pyjama Party, is due to take place in July and has places for 3,000 ladies.
The event will mark the 30th birthday of the Rowcroft Hospice, for which it raises funds. Last year’s event raised £180,000 for the hospice.
Laura Carus, events manager at Rowcroft, said: “Last year, more than 1,800 walkers took to the streets of Torbay in their pyjamas to raise a phenomenal amount for the hospice.
“This year, we are excited to be using the Riviera International Conference Centre as our start and finish venue. It’s enabled us to open up the event to a total of 3,000 ladies. We’re sure this year’s event will be an even bigger success.”
More than 700 women have already signed up for the event, which is open to females aged 12 and over. Walkers can take part in a five-mile, 10-mile or 15-mile route. There will also be a post walk party and disco.
Jenny Thompson, operations manager at the Riviera International Conference Centre, said: “We are over the moon to be hosting the Sleep Walk and working with Rowcroft.
“It is a fantastic community event and the centre is perfect for the amount of people that will be coming through.”
