£1.5 million grant for Telegraph museum

A project to develop one of West Cornwall’s most important pieces of history has benefited from being awarded more than £1.5 million in grants. Porthcurno Telegraph Museum is one of the county’s most popular museums and is often describes as the home of the “Victorian internet” as it was a vital hub of global communications for over 100 years.

Club to benefit those with mental issues

A cash injection of £2,000 from the charity Sported has made it possible for the first surf club in Cornwall run by and for young people with mental health issues to open. The Wave Project Surf Club is a fantastic venture that allows young people with mental health problems to work with the support of their parents and volunteers from the Wave Project. Family gather to mark 104th birthday

After having over a hundred birthday celebrations in her lifetime, there was only one place that Constantine great-grandmother Rose Pearce wanted to go for her 104th birthday: the pub. Rose treated herself on her special day to her favourite meal, fish and chips, and a drink of Guinness. She celebrated at the Chain Locker in Falmouth where her grandson Jonathan is the manager.

MOJO festival is coming to town

A new music event that will take place at multiple venues across Falmouth and Penry is coming to Cornwall. The MOJO festival will include performances from DJs and local artists in 10 different venues. Some of the artists performing include electro indie kids Chinese Sky Candy who will be performing with AUX innocent (formerly The Spires) at The Underground. AUX innocent were the winners of the FIB Bennacisim battle of the bands. The event will be two days long.

Redruth’s triathlete Mark Lewarne called upon to be GB captain

Mark Lewarne from Redruth in Cornwall has been named as the captain for Team GB at the European Triathlon Championships taking place in Israel in April. The former Surf Lifesaving European champion won gold in 2003 in Italy as a junior triathlete. He plans to lead by example and is hoping to secure a winning performance in Israel.
