After having over a hundred birthday celebrations in her lifetime, there was only one place that Constantine great-grandmother Rose Pearce wanted to go for her 104th birthday: the pub.
Rose treated herself on her special day to her favourite meal, fish and chips, and a drink of Guinness. She celebrated at the Chain Locker in Falmouth where her grandson Jonathan is the manager.
Many of Rose’s family members celebrated her birthday with her including her two children, five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She received many cards and letters and was even sent a note from Cornwall Council chairman Pat Harvey which said that her amazing birthday “deserves recognition.”
Rose attributes her great age to “hard work and cod liver oil” which she has taken every day for the last four decades. Rose still attends Constantine Church every week.
Rose added: “Apart from that, it’s a contented mind I suppose. I’ve had a good life and I’ve got two good children. If it wasn’t for them I don’t know where I’d be.”
