Dig out your oven gloves, lick your lips and find your favourite spot on the sofa – the Great British Bake Off is on its way…
Who doesn’t love that cheery line-up of Mary Berry, Paul Hollywood, Sue Perkins and Mel Giedroyc? With their cheeky little catchphrases based around soggy bottoms, hot baps and nuts.
The seventh series of this family bakery show is due to start in August and run for the usual 10 weeks before finally settling on Best Amateur Baker.
This show has taken on a life of its own over the years to become one of the nation’s favourites. Amateur bakers take their hobby to another level as they battle it out in the marquee through a series of challenges.
I think what works well about this programme is the mix of personalities found in the judges and presenters, as well as the genuine passion of the contestants who are not there because they want their five minutes of fame on the TV, but because they simply love baking.
Watching them create their masterpieces also inspires many of us to get our aprons on and get busy in our own kitchens.
Many biscuits and bread rolls were created in our house last year during the time the series was on – probably not great for our waistlines but certainly satisfying and delicious.
We can’t wait to have you back Bake Off Beauties – we’ve missed you!
