Metallica to Headline Leeds and Reading

Rock metal demi-gods Metallica have agreed to headline the Main Stage at the Leeds and Reading festivals, according to an announcement by the event organisers released today.

Lars Ulrich from the band told the BBC that the band were “beyond thrilled to be returning to headline the magnificent and mighty Reading & Leeds.”

The drummer added that, after four bill-topping appearances at the festivals, or eight if you count each location, Metallica “are practically the house band. Bring it!”

There has been a lot of excitement at the declaration that the huge LA band will grace the twin stages of Reading and Leeds once again. However there has been some criticism of the decision to host the boys for the fourth time, with people claiming that they don’t fit with the chilled out vibe of the festival

This year’s festival was headlined by a fairly un-chilled top three: Queens of the Stone Age, Arctic Monkeys and Blink-182.
