REVIEW: Guardians of the Galaxy

Marvel have upped the ante with their movies, and Guardians of the Galaxy has raised the bar even further.

I’m amazed that despite the film coming out three years ago, I only watched the first one of these films recently, and it blew me away.

The soundtrack is among the best I’ve ever heard in a film, and it is about as close to an original and unique film as I think you can find.

I wasn’t initially bothered about watching it when I realised that the main characters involved a talking racoon and a walking tree called Groot.

But having got to know the characters through these films, they’re nothing short of genius.

Throw in Drax as well and you have some genuinely funny, lovable characters who you can really invest your emotions into.

The action and CGI is absolutely outstanding, as you would expect from a Marvel film, and with some top-notch actors in there such as Chris Pratt and Zoe Saldana (pictured), it all comes together to form some brilliant films.

The storyline is definitely better in the first one than the second one, which gets a bit weak as it goes along.

But what I loved about the sequel is that because you got to know the characters in the first film, the second film allows the director to let these characters express themselves more in the second stanza, which produce hilarious results.

The Guardians are expected to enter the wider Marvel universe in the upcoming films over the next few years, so I can’t wait to see how they interact with much-loved figures such as Iron Man, Thor, the Hulk and Captain America.

A third Guardians of the Galaxy film is also in the pipeline, so I’m looking forward to seeing more of Star-Lord, Gamora, Drax, Rocket and Groot over the next few years.
