Claire Henderson always said that she wanted a low key proposal, but her now husband-to-be Marc Butler had other plans!
The blushing bride to be was stunned when she heard a marching band approaching her home in Bournemouth but never dreamed that it would end in a marriage proposal.
Her fiancé Marc planned the proposal for New Year’s Eve (which is also Claire’s birthday) after dreaming that he proposed in exactly the same way.
To make the dream come true, he called in his fellow band mates in Bournemouth Carnival Band and got the proposal arranged in 24 hours.
The 17 musicians dressed up as Spider-man and started playing a simple drum roll just around the corner from Claire’s house.
Claire, 37, said: “Marc’s mum got me outside and I just started crying. At this point I thought he’s organised this for my birthday. When they got outside, they played Happy Birthday and another song and then Marc came forward.”
Marc, 40, said: “I just got down on one knee and said ‘Will you make me the happiest man in the world?’ Thankfully she said ‘yes’.”
Claire added: “I was properly bawling and absolutely flabbergasted. I would not have wanted it any other way.
“I’m so thankful to all of the band. They are brilliant and came together with such short notice.”
The couple haven’t set a date yet but Claire says that they will have to find a venue that fits all of the marching band in.
