Money raised for hospital with river walk

A brave five year old from Chelmsford who has fought cancer walked more than 12 miles to raise money for Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH). William Lancaster walked along the River Chelmer and raised thousands of pounds for the hospital after he received the all clear from Burkitt’s lymphoma.

Diamond Jubilee city status hopes for Chelmsford

Chelmsford Borough Council has stated how they believe that getting city status for the town will help local businesses, so the town will be applying to be a city as part of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee. The government has said that it will upgrade one town in honour of the Queen, but Chelmsford will be facing competition from other Essex towns. Linda King has made a difference to the lives of many women who have lost their hair due to illness, with her company Angels Wigs. Linda, who has been a hairdresser and salon owner for decades, won the Master Craftsman of Hairdressing award, issued by the Hairdressing Council.

Town’s big Olympic honour

Chelmsford locals are celebrating after being the only town in Essex that has been chosen to host an official Olympic celebration event. The Olympic torch will arrive in Chelmsford on Friday the 6th of July 2012, and there will be a fantastic celebration within the community that is expected to see 15,000 people attending.
