Home needed for Guinea pigs

An animal sanctuary is looking for homes for a large number of guinea pigs after some accidental pregnancies at the centre. The Woodside Animal Sanctuary, in Elfordleigh, has got 35 guinea pigs in need of a new home after a group of 12 were taken in and began breeding after being mis-sexed.

Helping hand for over 50s

Jobseekers over the age of 50 are being given a helping hand with a new service just for them. The Get SET 50 project has been launched in libraries across the Plymouth area to give people a bit of extra help getting back into work.

Olympic boost for swimmer

Olympic hopeful Antony James has been able to take a year off from his studies to train thanks to a new bursary from Plymouth University. The swimmer, who is also a student at the university, is the first person to receive the special bursary of £1,500, set up as part of the university’s 150th anniversary celebrations.
