Science takes over
It was definitely time for science bit when the Hebridean Science Festival made a comeback for 10 days in March. Science events took place in public venues and schools across the region during the festival, which was held for a second time due to the success of the event last year.

Craft makers in the Outer Hebrides are being given a helping hand with the launch of a grant scheme for the second year in a row. The awards scheme is being run by Comhairle nan Eilean Siar, in partnership with Creative Scotland, in an aim to support artists and craft makers based in the region.

Harris Tweed has been given a boost thanks to a £200,000 funding package. The funding, being provided by the European Social Fund, Comhairle nan Eilean Siar and Highlands and Islands Enterprise, will ensure more people are given training in the Harris Tweed industry.
