Plenty to be proud of

Hereford proved it had plenty to be proud of during a recent awards ceremony. Many inspiring stories were told during the annual Pride of Herefordshire awards. Overall winner of the evening was Tony Hodder, for his work developing a youth facility in the St Martin’s area of the city.

Student is minted by coin success

Student Pippa Sanderson can see her artwork on a new coin after winning a design competition. The Hereford College of Arts graduate won a national competition to design a £5 coin commemorating the 2012 Olympics and Paralympics. Her design has now been unveiled and put into circulation. Pippa took part in the competition during her final year studying BA (Hons) Graphic & Media Design at the college.

Gritter on Twitter

Herefordshire Council is hoping to keep people safe on the roads this winter by putting its gritter on Twitter. The council has teamed up with service provider Amey to keep residents up to date with what is happening on the county’s roads during bad weather. Members of the public are being encouraged to sign up to Gritter Twitter to get constant updates about road gritting and other useful road and weather information.
