Stone residents are being called on to give a pound towards the town’s bid for gaining national glory. Stone in Bloom is preparing to fight off the likes of Glenrothes, Whitehaven and former national finalist Whickham in the national finals of the Britain in Bloom competition this year.

Dog fouling patrols at night are launched by Council

Stafford Borough Council has launched night patrols to clamp down on irresponsible dog owners who are putting other residents’ health at risk with dog fouling. In its battle against dog fouling, the Council has also started early morning patrols.  These steps follow an increase in reports of dog fouling during the last few weeks.

Crematorium Open Day

Residents were invited to an unusual day out when the borough council held an open day at its crematorium. Stafford Crematorium, in Tixall Road, opened its doors to give visitors a rare chance to take a look behind the scenes.

Brave Abigail Opens Park

Blind 10-year-old Abigail Lewis was the guest of honour at a party to mark the opening of new park facilities. Abigail, who is battling two brain tumours, helped the town’s mayor to officially open the play area at Victoria Park. The ceremony was part of the annual Party in the Park.
