Young carers nominated for film award

A film made by young carers in the North East has been nominated at the First Light Film Awards in the Young Voice category. The young carers from Redcar and Cleveland and Middlesbrough were funded by a Redcar charity to make their film ‘A Mile In Our Shoes’. They were also given support from The Junction and Middlesbrough FC Study Skills Centre.

Split Feastival announced

Foodies rejoice! There will be a new three day celebration of Gastronomy this summer in Sunderland. The Split Feastival Village is a spin off of the popular food tent at last year’s Split music festival and will take place at Herrington Country Park this June.

Sunderland’s very own karate kid’s has a Japanese dream

Black belt Jamie O’Donnell may still be a teenager, but he can certainly pack a wallop. The 13 year old Sunderland local has already won an amazing 37 awards at both regional and national Karate competitions. Jamie was just six years old when he won his first award and works hard to fit four training sessions a week in alongside his school and study timetable.
