Lonely Artist Takes To The Streets
An artist who got fed up and lonely in his studio decided to sit on the streets and paint market traders instead. Brian Ballard began painting the characters he saw in St George’s Market and has now become a regular fixture in the area. He gives the paintings to the traders when they are finished.

A superhero is being flown into the city of Belfast to help beat littering, after a council survey found young people drop rubbish because they are too lazy to find a bin. The poll, conducted by Ipsos MORI on behalf of Belfast City Council, had surprising results. It found that 48 per cent of those surveyed said they dropped litter because of laziness. A giant piece of artwork is set to dominate the skyline in Belfast when it is completed in the summer. The RISE sculpture will be the biggest piece of artwork ever commissioned in Northern Ireland and will tower 37.5 metres – or 123 feet – above the city’s Broadway roundabout.
