Charity ride revved up by Nigel

Former Formula One Champion Nigel Mansell is well known for his skills on four wheels, but now he will be getting on tow as he takes part in a grueling charity bike ride.

Nigel will be raising as much as he can for national youth work charity UK Youth which supports around 750,000 young people.

Nigel is president of the charity and will be setting off from John O’Groats on 12th June and aiming to arrive at the Eiffel Tower in Paris on 23rd June.

On his way he will be making a pit-stop in Blackpool.

He will set off from the foot of Blackpool tower before ending at another famous tower.

A spokesman said: “A couple of years ago Nigel completed a cycle ride around the UK covering over 1200 miles in just twelve days to celebrate the charities centenary year.

“He has subsequently completed two London to Paris cycle events as well as being the team owner of Team UK Youth a professional cycling team competing in both the Halfords Tour Series and several UCI events.

“This year, however, Nigel is setting an even greater challenge for himself, riding from John O’Groats to the Eiffel Tower in Paris.

“Nigel will be undertaking 11 days of solid cycling and upwards of 1200 miles, and we really want to support his desire for it to help promote UK Youth.”

Nigel hopes to arrive in Blackpool on 16th June.

The former Indycar championship winner and dad of three will have a couple of nights rest in Blackpool before he sets off to Paris.
