Crewe company Gist Ltd wins a major award
Gist Ltd, a logistics company in Crewe, has won an award at the North West learndirect achievement awards. The firm won the Large Company Award, which is sponsored by Irwin Mitchell, for their work pioneering learndirect training within their company. They have been recognised for their use of learndirect training to support business goals.

A £4.5 million project to enhance and improve the Wulvern Housing estate in Crewe has won a major award for excellence. The scheme plans to transform the Sherborne Road estate into a better place to live. It has beaten off competition from four other nationwide projects and won the Regeneration Scheme of the Year at the Housing Excellence Awards 2011.

Daniel Butler, an 18-year-old from Crewe, has been named the North West Higher Apprentice of the Year. Daniel is a junior engineer at Bentley and is currently in the third year of his higher apprenticeship. He scooped the award despite fierce competition, and is the fourth generation of his family to have worked for Bentley. Daniel works hard to juggle his foundation degree in engineering at South Cheshire College and his job as part of a team of 30 experts …
