The St Clare Hospice in Hastingwood village, near Harlow, was given a donation of £400 to support the work they do caring for people in the local area. The money was raised by campaign group Keep Nazeing Green, and MP Bill Rammell attended the presentation, showing his support for their efforts.
Giles Wright, head of communications for the Hospice, said:
“Both Mr Rammel and the people of Nazeing have for many years been supporters of St Clare, to which we are very grateful.
“Nazeing funded the completion of one of our eight in-patient bedrooms in the late 1990s and many of its community have played an active part in establishing our service. To this day the room door displays a plaque saying the ‘Nazeing Room.’
“We will be looking to work even more closely with partnership organisations in future to ensure high quality and specialist care is available. It is because of the fundraising efforts of local villages such as Nazeing that we have been able to grow and care for thousands of people since we were established over 18 years ago.”
