A Birmingham pub is being haunted by the presence of a poltergeist with a cheeky side! The Jewellery Quarter’s Queens Arms pub is haunted by a bum pinching phantom that doesn’t care whether his victims are male or female. The boss Christian Dixon said: “It’s quite shocking – and definitely not a muscle spasm. It’s a very firm pinch. “It happens day and night. You turn round, but there’s no one there. It’s most off-putting.”

Record attempt at Aston Villa with Peter Shilton
Charity volunteers have proved to be more successful than Aston Villa’s footballing season at a record-breaking fundraiser at Villa Park. More than 700 pupils and former England goalkeeper Peter Shilton took part in an attempt to break the record for most painted faces. Five artists took on the mammoth task of breaking their own record for painting 1,072 faces within four hours, a record they set in 2006.

Ranjeet Marwa is working towards becoming cinema king
One of horror writer Stephen King’s most gruesome stories will be made into a film by young Birmingham film-maker Ranjeet Singh Marwa. Ranjeet has signed a contract with the world famous author to write the screenplay and direct his vision for the 1977 short story The Man Who Loved Flowers. New Tolkien gallery in Birmingham
Birmingham’s tourism bosses are hoping that a new attraction devoted to author JRR Tolkien will be popular with visitors to the city. The writer of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings Trilogy was raised in Birmingham between 1895 and 1911 and his popularity is expected to soar after the film version of The Hobbit is released in cinemas this summer.

Son saves family from blaze with quick thinking
Jack Rees, a schoolboy from Sutton Coldfield, proved himself a hero when his actions saved the lives of his family and neighbours when there was a serious chimney blaze at his home. 11 year old Jack raised the alarm and alerted his neighbours who were unaware of the fire. His heroic actions meant that his parents could call the fire brigade and save an elderly couple who were in danger of being seriously hurt.

Law firm backs Marie Curie Big Build project
The ambitious Big Build project spearheaded by Marie Curie Cancer Care has just received backing from trainee solicitors at Anthony Collins Solicitors in Birmingham. The project aims to build a brand new state-of-the-art hospice in Solihull and it is being substantially boosted by the trainee solicitors’ fundraising efforts. They hope to raise some of the £7 million needed for the hospice over the next two years.

Lives saved by Shropshire river rescue men
A 22 year old soldier and 56 year old man are being hailed as heroes after rescuing a woman from a river in Shropshire. The two men saved a woman after they saw her in the River Severn near Washbrook Road in Bridgnorth.

The Jewellery Quarter in Birmingham’s city centre dates back to the 17th century and is like a living museum. King Charles II began a fashion for buttons and shoe buckles, and trade for metal workers increased, especially in the Birmingham area.
