Residents can plan their spot for watching the Olympic Torch relay after details of its route through the Broxbourne borough were announced.
The Torch Relay will arrive on foot in Waltham Cross from Waltham Abbey at around 8.45am on Saturday July 7. It will be carried along Highbridge Street and Station Road, before turning right into the Lee Valley White Water Centre, Station Road, for a celebration event.
Residents will be able to see the Torch leave the Lee Valley Centre at around 9.35am, and be carried right into Station Road, travelling on foot along Eleanor Cross Road, Monarch’s Way and the High Street.
A spokesperson for the Borough of Broxbourne Council said: “Spectators will have a good view of the Olympic Torch in Waltham Cross High Street, between Hertford Road and the northern intersection with Monarch’s Way, as well as on the southern side of Eleanor Cross Road and Station Road.”
Free parking will be provided during the event at the council’s car parks in Eleanor Cross Road, the High Street, Waltham Cross town centre and Waltham Cross Railway Station.
The Borough of Broxbourne Council has begun publishing an Olympics newsletter to keep residents informed of all the arrangements during the games.
The Lee Valley White Water Centre is a venue for Olympic events between July 29 and August 2, and the newsletter sets out transport options, parking restrictions, details about visitor permits, traffic management plans and local policing plans. The first newsletter was issued in March.
