Money for laughs

TV comedians did more than raise a few laughs when they turned up at an event in aid of Bury Hospice. Stewart Francis and Milton Jones, of BBC 2’s Mock the Week, and Mick Miller, star of cult BBC TV series Ideal, entertained guests at the fundraising ball organised by drainage merchants JDP to boost Bury Hospice funds.

Sam’s appeal just keeps on growing

A charity fund with an initial target of £500 has now reached a staggering £20,000. The fund was set up in memory of Sam Ahearn, who died from an epileptic seizure in 2009 when she was just 19 years old.

New cycle hub

Cycling to work will be made easier in Bury thanks to a new bike hub. Work has started on the new facility at Bury Interchange and is expected to be completed by the spring.
