25th anniversary for BBC Essex local radio station

BBC Radio Essex is 25 years old, and two of the station’s original presenters have been recalling their first few days on air. Alex Lester opened the first breakfast broadcast on 5th November 1986 and Dave Monk and Ken Crowther were part of the original BBC Essex team. Both Dave and Kevin still broadcast programmes on the local station.

The Wanted give Olympic torch bearer good news

Emma Martin, a netball loving 17 year old from Chelmsford, was shocked and stunned when she was told that she would be carrying the Olympic flame, but she was even more surprised by who told her the news.

Champion Mum Kerry

As well as raising two children and saving lives as an emergency medical technician, Chelmsford local Kerry Masarati has made a name for herself as a champion cagefighter. Kerry beat the British female 65kg title holder and won the K1 championships in Colchester on points after five two-minute rounds.
