Charitable staff at a firm of chartered accountants in Chester have been coming up with new fundraising ideas for a hospice.
Barringtons Chartered Accountants, which has offices in in Nantwich and Newcastle-under-Lyme have started a top hat fundraising drive ahead of the Douglas Macmillan Top Hat and Tiaras grand annual ball. They have asked clients and colleagues to chip in to raise money for the worthy cause.
Throughout autumn and winter the accountancy firm and its sister company BCR which specialises in corporate recovery and insolvency will be raising money for the hospice through dress down days and whip-rounds.
Phil Wood, managing director of the accountancy firm said: “My mother was only 51 when she died of a brain tumour.
“Thirty years on I have never forgotten just how kind the hospice staff were to her in her final days and to my family as we coped with the loss.
“BCR always takes a table at the charity ball and Barringtons offers a prize in the Grand Auction. This year we thought we would go one step further and do some fundraising as well. The top hats tie in with the theme and make it a bit of fun.”
The ball will take place at Keele Hall on the 5th October and it will include a gourmet banquet, disco, casino and grand auction.
