Chester Grosvenor Employee of the Year award for Pascale

An employee at a Chester hotel has been recognised as one of the best.

Restaurant superviser Pascale Defontaine has been named The Chester Grosvenor’s ‘Employee of the Year’ for 2012.

Pascale began her career with the company in 2007 as a waitress in the Parisian-style bistro and now runs La Brasserie restaurant with manager Natasha Scovell.

Pascale is originally from Brittany and started off as a waitress at the restaurant before she was promoted to demi chef de rang. She has studied hotel management in France.

She is a favourite with diners and said: “I’m proud to work at The Chester Grosvenor because it’s one of the best hotels in the UK. The focus is on high-quality service and because of that people leave the hotel, and La Brasserie, with a smile on their face and that means a lot to me.”

The 28 year old has been rewarded for all of her hard work with a three-night break to a European city of her choice for two people. The trip includes travel expenses as well as breakfast and dinner each day.

Jonathan Slater, the hotel’s managing director, said: “Pascale is a very worthy winner of our ‘Employee of the Year’ award because it rewards staff who go above and beyond the call of duty for our customers every day.

“It’s lovely to see someone who started work with us six years ago learn, develop and get promoted.

“Pascale is an exemplary member of the team at The Chester Grosvenor and this is our way of saying thank you to her.”

The award was presented to Pascale by Mr Slater at a reception attended by many of the hotel’s staff. Pastry chef de partie Vivienne McClelland and night manager Matthew Pritchard also won awards.
