A Chester primary school is celebrating after its hard work and continued improvements in test results have landed them in the top 50 for SATs results.
The JH Godwin school in Blacon received a letter from MP Nick Gibb, the Minister of State for Schools, praising them for the excellent SATs results that they achieved.
The year-on-year increase in the percentage of children achieving Level 4+ in the tests has meant that the Melbourne Road school is now on a list with the top 50 performers in the UK that have shown sustained improvement.
Conrad North, the school’s delighted headteacher, said: “This is testament to the hard work, dedication and commitment of our team to achieving the highest standards for our children.
“The team work really hard with our children and families to raise the profile and importance of learning.”
The letter that MP Nick Gibb wrote to Mr North said: “I would like to congratulate your staff, governors and pupils for their hard work and success, and to thank you for your leadership in continuing the drive towards the highest standards of educational achievement.”
Mr. North praised the pupils for their hard work and the extra-curricular activities that they also partake in.
The school’s choir has recently performed at a BBC Music Nation event that is part of the build up for the London 2012 Olympics.
JH Godwin’s motto is ‘Inspire and Achieve’ and Mr North added: “The children are so proud of our school.”
