There will be 1,000 job vacancies at Chester Racecourse for the upcoming 2012 racing season.
The racecourse usually recruits about 750 casual staff from the local area to help with the season but this figure has increased due to the creation and launch the local betting company chesterBET.
chesterBET are looking for bar staff, catering managers, waiting staff and chefs for the catering division and betting operators and supervisors for the company’s new betting division. Full training will be provided for all of the roles excluding the chef positions.
The jobs give their employees the skills needed to progress in the hospitality industry through a thorough and extensive development and training programme.
One of the racecourse’s success stories is Matthew Alexander, from the Wirral, who worked casually on the catering team for four racing seasons. After he finished his university degree he returned to work full time as a catering supervisor and was later promoted to the role of junior operations manager.
Matthew said: “Working for Chester Racecourse has been a great experience for me. I have developed my skills during my employment and taken the opportunities when they have presented themselves to progress within the business.
“The business is very accommodating and has been really flexible with timings of shifts and supported my educational development.”
