Daniel Butler, an 18-year-old from Crewe, has been named the North West Higher Apprentice of the Year. Daniel is a junior engineer at Bentley and is currently in the third year of his higher apprenticeship.
He scooped the award despite fierce competition, and is the fourth generation of his family to have worked for Bentley. Daniel works hard to juggle his foundation degree in engineering at South Cheshire College and his job as part of a team of 30 experts in the body and trim development at Bentley.
He said: “I’m thrilled to have won this award. My apprenticeship has given me so many opportunities to progress personally and professionally.
“It’s certainly a career route that I’d recommend to any school leaver who wants to continue their education and gain practical skills via real-life experience while earning money, not debt.”
As well as his work at Bentley, he has also completed a four-week placement at Audi’s headquarters in Ingolstadt, Germany. Daniel is now headed to the national stage of the competition and will be going to an awards ceremony in London later in the year.
