A charity dedicated to sending sick children on dream holidays has been given a boost. The Cloud 9 charity has joined forces with the Pied Piper Appeal in Gloucester, to ensure even more children can enjoy a special break away.

Caring teenager receives top award
Teenager Emily Bushell has been given a top community award in recognition of all her work helping others. Emily, 17, of Ribston Hall High School, was given the Chris Witts Award at the annual Citizen of Gloucester Awards. The award aims to recognise the good work of young people in the city.

Tom Jones fans are celebrating after hearing the news that the legendary singer is coming to town. Gloucester Rugby club has signed the world-famous singer to perform at its Kingsholm city centre stadium at the end of June.

Plug is pulled at university
University students and staff took part in an organised power cut to highlight the issue of sustainable energy. The plug was pulled on the power at the Oxstalls Lane, Gloucester, campus of the University of Gloucestershire for an hour as part of the campaign. Rooms affected included the learning centre, teaching rooms, halls of residence, offices and Student Union bar.

Million spend encouraged
Residents are being asked to help spend a million pounds after their community was chosen for a huge cash injection. The Podsmead area of Gloucester is one of only 50 communities in the UK to be chosen for the National Lottery Big Local project.
