Harlow Art Project

An arts project is being developed in Harlow through a partnership between Essex County Council, Harlow Council, Harlow Renaissance and Commissions East. It is proposed to focus around the Market Square development in the town centre, as part of the Essex-wide Genius Loci programme.

It will combine art, film and discussion, with a temporary art gallery being installed in Market Square, which will have five free exhibitions during the project’s run. As well as this there will be art activities, free to take part in, and public discussions relating to art in the area and how it relates to Harlow and its new developments.

The aim of the project is to involve local residents and visitors to the town to think about the history of the town as well as its future, and to get the support of artists in future planning and design initiatives in Harlow.

Lead Artist for Harlow, Roman Vasseur, was the mind behind the events, and is working alongside Diann Bauer, Amanda Beech, Chris Evans, Alison Gill, Pil & Galia Kollective, Wayne Lloyd, The Serendipity Group and Mike Ricketts to celebrate and explore the heritage of Harlow as a New Town.
