Swim the channel

Thousands of swimmers across the country have been trying to swim the channel to raise money for the Aspire centre. The Aspire Channel Swim challenge, from September to December, called on people from all over the UK to swim the length of the channel in their local swimming pools. Over 3,000 people are taking part in the 2011 event.

Prince is Priory Patron

The Prince of Wales has joined the fight to save the RAF base Bentley Priory. HRH has accepted the Bentley Priory Battle of Britain Trust’s invitation to become Patron of its appeal to raise £1.8m to create a museum within the historic rooms of the Priory.

Council pays for bike course

Riding their bikes became a walk in the park for a group of youngsters thanks to a special training weekend. The bike-riding session was held to help youngsters ditch their stabilisers and get confident on two wheels. Older children were also taught bike riding skills and confidence during the two-hour course.
